KIRAN D'SOUZA
Dragon Carousel & Other Toys

Rigid, hinged lid of canopy, which opens to reveal the extendable handle to turn the carousel.

Close-up view of one of the "spoke" mechanisms. Each spoke has two dragons hanging from inverted gigs attached to the center of a cam. Cams are the vertical wooden circles, and gigs are the alternating double u-shaped bent wire wrapped with springs.

When the friction between the cams and the platform they are resting on causes the cams to rotate, the gigs rotate as well, causing the up-and-down motion of the dragons.
